Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJUANA LANUZA SANTOS DELA CRUZ Peacefully, with family at her side, Juana Lanuza Santos dela Cruz, passed away on March 30, 2010 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 100 years and 10 months. She will be remembered and sadly missed by her children: Cecilia, Tomas (Violeta Custodio), Natividad (Rafael Macayan), Carmen (Juanito Alimangohan), Melba Micay, Cristina (Norberto Macayan) and Jose Jr. (Teresita Sanchez). Grandchildren: George Pascua (Lilia Felipe), Jonathan Pascua (Leticia Salem), Josie Tonio (Patrick McCarthy), Honesto Pascua (Rowena Ramos), Serafin Jr. (Veronica Manuel), Mari-Alma dela Cruz (Juliana Battalones-mother), Alexander dela Cruz, Arlene dela Cruz (Genesis Casubuan), and Audrey Lei. Great-Grandchildren: Jonas Adam, Aldwin, Angeli, Avery Gayle, Lorraine, Jissel, Howen Matthew, Lyncee, Jean Dominique, Jean Paul, Justin, and Eunice Ashley. Nanay Juana will also be missed by David Candin, a very close family friend. Juana was predeceased by her mother Arsenia Consuelo Lanuza, and adopted mother Paulina Lanuza, her father Pedro Santos, her daughters Lourdes and Aurora, her sister Remedios, her husband Jose Perez Sr., her sons-in-law Serafin Tonio Sr., Nathan Micay, Ernesto Pascua, and granddaughter Agnes. Juana was born in Manila, Philippines, May 16, 1909. She came to Canada in September 1974 with her husband. Since childhood she was very devoted to St. Anthony of Padua. She was a Member of the Cenacles of the Marian Movement of Priest, Volunteers of God, AuxilIary member of the Legion of Mary of St. Joseph, The Lord of Pardon Chapter 8. She loved to travel around the world and especially as Balikbayan. She loved sports and in her younger years, played Baseball and Softball. When she came to Canada she played Golf and Tennis, and began swimming and Cross-Country Skiing with her daughters. She was a diehard fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tiger Woods. Her family would like to express their gratitude to Seven Oaks Hospital staff especially to her physician Dr. Pradeep Bhanot for their nurturing and compassionate care and for those who have shown their support at this time of need. Also the family wishes to thank those who were involved in Nanay Juana's care at home especially Lody, Julia and Angelina and Homecare Coordinator Ms. Shannon Chartrand. A special thanks to the priests who came to the hospital to give her the sacrament: Rev. Fr. Neil Parado, Fr. Kevin Smith, Fr. Michael Walbaum, Fr. Freddie. To Siony Bustamante for her prayers and support. A wake service (Lamay) will be held on Wednesday, April 7 and Thursday, April 8 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. from 7:00 p.m. to Midnight with a prayer vigil beginning at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fr. Kevin Smith will say the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 9 at St. Joseph Church, 355 Andrews St. corner Mountain Avenue. Chaplet of the Divine Mercy will begin at 10:15 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, 506 Osborne Street. Reception will be at St. Joseph's Parish Upper Hall, 515 College Ave. Pallbearers will be: Danilo Santos, Prony Leyson, Roger Valdez, and Joe Sevilla. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Joseph Parish, at 355 Andrews Street, corner Mountain Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R2W 4T5.
