JOHANNA BURNS Peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2010, Johanna Burns, 73, passed away surrounded by her loving family. Johanna was an incredible woman with many passions. She loved painting, reading, gardening and travel. She was an extremely intelligent woman, knowledgeable in everything from everyday trivia to Greek Mythology. But what she especially loved was spending time with her family. Her grandchildren in Winnipeg will always remember their special trips to The Forks, Oak Hammock Marsh, the Zoo and all the other places she loved to take them. Her grandchildren in Calgary always looked forward to her visits and the time they spent with her. She was employed by the City of Winnipeg for many years as a City Planner and after her retirement she partnered with her husband in his work in creating Prostate Cancer Support Groups around the world and working with these groups. Johanna is survived by her husband of 25 years, Norm Oman, her sister and brother-in-law Diane and Marv, children Harvey and Shelley, Sandy and Michael and Mike and her grandchildren Blake, Daniel, Kevin, Jenna, Andrea, Jackson and Brett. The family would like to thank Norm's many close friends for helping and guiding us through this difficult time and also the caring and compassionate staff at Health Sciences Centre and St. Boniface Hospitals. If desired, donations can be mailed to the Manitoba Prostate Cancer Support Group at 705-776 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3M 0Y1. As per Johanna's wishes no formal service will be held.
