Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNETTIE RUTH PENNER Nettie Ruth Penner passed away April 2, 2010 at the St. Norbert Nursing Home in Winnipeg. She was 78. She is survived by her husband, Dick (Dietrich) Neufeld and her four children and spouses; David and Margo Penner (Winnipeg), Barb Bender and Michael Dew (Punta Gorda, Florida), Audrey Penner and Allan Foran (Winnipeg) and Donna and Cam Reilly (Winnipeg) as well as ten grandchildren, Caitlin, Amy, Rebecca, Jacqlyn, Kristie, Sarah, Hannah, Allan Jr., Andrew and Noah. Nettie had 14 brothers and sisters, four of which predeceased her, two infant children, Jake Wiebe (Calgary) and John Wiebe (White Rock, BC). She is survived by ten siblings: Anna Penner (Altona), Mary Voth (Vernon, BC), Kay Sutherland (Carillo, California), Peter Wiebe (Winnipeg), Sue Kathler (Abbotsford, BC), Helen Dick (Niverville), Abe Wiebe (Saskatoon, SK), Betty Lukenuik (Pence, SK), Ernie Wiebe (Lacombe, AB) and Mardee Epp (Winnipeg). She had ten grandchildren. Nettie was born near Killarney (Turtle Mountain) Manitoba, in 1931 and grew up on the family farm near Dominion City, Manitoba. Later she married the late Vern Penner and lived in Winnipeg. She married Dick Neufeld in 1995 and they spent many great years together. She was an amazing wife and mother, always gentle and kind. Her passion was golf and she had a natural talent for the sport. She was a member of the Pine Ridge Golf and Country Club for many years. Nettie had great faith and attended the First Mennonite Church for the greater part of her life. She will be fondly remembered by all. The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their care and compassion of their mother during her stay there. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. A private family interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens the following day.
