RAYMOND LAWRENCE BOWMAN

Date of Passing: Apr 02, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND LAWRENCE BOWMAN Peacefully on Friday, April 2, 2010 with family at his side, Raymond Lawrence Bowman passed away after a brief illness. Raymond was predeceased by his parents Robert and Verlie Bowman, sisters Joyce Bowman, Alma Jahns, June Puddifant and Wilda Gilmore, brothers-in-law Wilfred Neufeld, Frank Puddifant and Wilson Jahns and sister-in-law Maggie Bowman. Raymond was predeceased by wife Linda Rae Bowman in 1995 and by special companion Eunice Moxam in 2009. Raymond is survived by sisters Illa Neufeld of Vancouver, BC and Marge (Don) Verran of Calgary, AB, brothers Robert Bowman of St. Catharines, ON and Bill (Dorothy) Bowman of Gunton, MB. Raymond is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and family too numerous to mention. Raymond was born on March 3, 1932 in Teulon and resided in the Greenwood area until he moved to the Stonewall area in 1973. He was self employed as a carpenter where he took pride in his work and a perfectionist in anything he did. After Raymond retired he still remained active by assisting family and friends with odd jobs and projects as he was always willing to help out those he cared about. Raymond also looked forward to his morning coffee with his coffee buddies and also went every second day to check up on his good friend Howard Smaldon. Raymond's pride and joy was his cat Fluffy. Raymond would never go far because he was worried about getting home to make sure Fluffy had his insulin shot. Raymond had strategically used the shop vac as a daily grooming tool for Fluffy which the cat greatly appreciated. Raymond never needed an alarm clock since Fluffy would wake him up at the crack of dawn for a feeding. Raymond used to enjoy old machinery and building replicas. He took great pride in his fully functional thrashing machine which he built from scratch with his brother Bill. He also enjoyed going to auction sales where he spent more time eating and observing than bidding on anything. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free Miss me a little but not too long And not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared Miss me but let me go For this journey that we must all take And each must go alone It's all a part of the Master's plan A step on the road home When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds Miss me but let me go The funeral will be held on April 8, 2010 at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow immediately after the service at the Christ Church Cemetery, Stony Mountain. Lunch to follow at Stonewall Legion. Rev. Leonard Oracheski officiating.
