Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDOROTHY MAY HOLLAND An English born lady to the end, despite 62 years of life in Canada, Dorothy May Holland (nee Davies) passed away peacefully on March 29, 2010 in Cartwright, MB at the age of 90. Born in London, England in 1920, Dorothy came to Winnipeg after the Second World War and began a business career that included 29 years with the C.N. Railway as a legal secretary. Before and during the war, Dorothy had worked with the London N.E. Railway and the London County Council and after arrival in Canada in 1948 she was employed by the Unemployment Insurance Commission until 1953. Dorothy married C.P.R. veteran Herbert Holland in 1980 and they resided in St. Vital until Herb's death in 1989. Dorothy resided on Clayton Drive from 1995 to 2005 and then moved in with niece Brenda and her husband James Belbas near Killarney where she enjoyed farm life. Dorothy was an active member of All Saints Anglican Church where she enjoyed teaching Sunday School and being a member of the Business Women's Club. In St. Vital, her church home was St. Mark's. Her affiliation with Eastern Star was also an important part of her life and she enjoyed travelling, including several trips to Australia. She is survived by stepdaughter Lila McOuat (Charles) of Markham, ON, nieces Pam Stork (Gary) of Edmonton, AB, Brenda Belbas (James) of Killarney, MB, and nephews Alan Clark (Peri) of Melita, MB and Keith Clark (Della) of Pine Falls, MB. Also survived by five great-nieces, seven great-nephews, four great-great-nephews, one great-great-niece, two granddaughters, three grandsons, three great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 10 at 3:30 p.m. at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (south of the Royal Canadian Mint). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Children's Fund, St. Mark's Anglican Church, St. Vital or All Saints Anglican Church, Winnipeg or a charity of your choice in Dorothy's name would be appreciated.
