FRANCES LOUISE SPICE On April 2, 2010, Frances died peacefully at Oakview Place, at the age of 93. Frances was born November 15, 1916 in North Kildonan, to Edward and Jean Spice, the fourth of seven children. Educated in North Kildonan she worked at Eaton's Mail Order for her entire career. She worshipped at John Black United Church, Holy Trinity Anglican, and Kirkfield Park United, and was always a faithful member of the Women's Auxiliary. Strongly independent, she travelled throughout North America and Europe on group tours. She enjoyed swimming, bowling and golfing and was an avid TV sports fan. She spent many happy summers at the family cottage at Farlane, Ontario and continued to enjoy the visits of family on their way to the lake when she was no longer able to go herself. She loved to share her family pictures and never missed sending cards for special occasions. Her apartment was full of ornaments and pictures of animals, especially horses, her favourite. She was an affectionate, generous, and courageous friend. Frances was the last of her immediate family, predeceased by her parents, her sisters Roberta and Grace, and her brothers Campbell, Edward, Donald and William. Frances is survived by her cousins Margaret and Walter Swayze, Magnus Bayne, Arthur and Jean Hobbs, Frank and Eva Sissons, Frank and Eva Galbraith, and their families. She will also be remembered by her Spice and Moyle nieces and nephews in Ottawa, Virginia and Michigan. The family is very grateful to the staff at Oakview Place for their warm and considerate care and to the many friends from Kirkfield Park United who visited so often. A memorial service will take place at Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield Street, on Saturday, April 10 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3 or the Assiniboine Park Zoo, 460 Assiniboine Park Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2N7.
