JORDAN JAMES CHAMBERS July 1, 1956 March 22, 2010 It is with great sadness that our family shares the passing of a son, brother and companion. Jody is predeceased by his loving mother Charmaine. Left to celebrate his life and memory are his father Ron, his brother Kerry and wife Evelyn, his sister Madelaine and husband David, his sister Suzanne and husband Reg, his aunts Margaret and Lynn, as well as many other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews. Jody was born in Winnipeg and, after attending the University of Winnipeg, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces serving as a medic in Comox, B.C. He suffered a brain injury and was discharged from military service. For the next few years, Jody searched for a place to accept him in the work force and then turned to the Internet to help him improve his memory and work skills. He set up an online natural healthcare website and gained a network of clients and close friends. Despite his disability and ongoing treatment, Jody lived and worked with remarkable strength. Using the Internet, he was committed to helping others experiencing loneliness, mental health issues, and medical problems. Jody enjoyed his time spent at Royal Lake, music, cooking, home renovations and coffee with his friend Mark. Jody's weekly long distance conversations with his brother Kerry were especially precious to him and he would wait patiently for each one. Jody had tremendous and enduring religious strength and believed his passing would bring him to a place of comfort and solace. The love and compassion of Sister Epiphany (S.S.M.I of Winnipeg) encouraged and nurtured both his spiritual and daily life. Jody recently discovered a way to deal with his brain injury and he told his family and friends that for the first time in many years he felt good, was happy, and hopeful for the future. Sadly his gift of the future was short lived, but as his Aunt Margaret always told him, yesterday is a memory, today is a promise, and tomorrow is a gift. You're finally free Jody; enjoy the gift, and rest in peace. Jordan's expressed wish was to have no formal service and a private interment has been held with family members. Donations on Jordan's behalf may be made to the Manitoba Brain Injury Association, 204-825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3A 1M5.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I moved to Vancouver in my early 20s. Jody was a name that always took me back to the days at St. Gerard's school. He was my good buddy. I attended along with Jody and Kerry. Cannot remember if Madeline was there or not? What year was she born? LOVED RON he was so cool for the times. His mom was a kind and thoughtful woman. The household on Consul was a wonderful refuge to me at that time. Seven sibs at home.. Much too busy. ha! Best wishes, Lorne Devine P.S. Char gifted to me back then a kitten I presented to my sister, Ginny, as as birthday present. Never having been a cat family this surprise gift caused much "cafuffle" for a few hours in the Devine household!! We very soon after became a cat and dog family. We all pulled for her and participated in her recovery. Recover she did, big time! We got the runt of a litter of Siamese cats that despite injury to her neck as a result of attempts at reducing the litter size survived and thrived when pulled from the pack! Named her Mishcou ( sp ). She lived seventeen !!! happy years ruling get roost, Hunter extraordinare, faithfully presenting her catch at the door landings. Thanks, rest in peace Jody - Posted by: Lorne Devine (Freind) on: Jun 18, 2017
