Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTIN DAVID CHRUSTIE July 25, 1934 - April 6, 2010 Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear. Forever in our hearts! Born in Alonsa, MB, our beloved father, husband and grandfather left us on April 6, 2010, after a long battle with a degenerative neurological disorder. Last born into a large family, he grew up with a business sense and established ventures in three provinces - Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Always looking for a challenge, his career included a variety of ventures such as Greyhound Agencies, Voyageur Restaurants, founder of Winnipeg's first Cabaret nightclub the King's Plate , land development and property management. His leisure activities included a membership in the Khartum Shriner's Motor Patrol, cruising the waters of Sandy Lake, ON, ice fishing with the grand-kids and snowmobiling with the boys through lake country. He is survived by his wife Connie of 31 years; his four children - Maxine (White Rock, BC), Myrna (Grant), Robert (Sheryl) (LA, California) and Bruce (Ottawa, ON); and his three grandchildren - Chelsea, Cassidy and Cody; as well as his sister Elsie (Thunder Bay, ON); and brothers, Bill and Russell (Alonsa, MB). He is predeceased by his mother Frances; father Nicolas; sister Stella; and brothers, John, Walter and Paul. A very special thank-you to the staff at Riverview Health Centre (Unit 3-D), as well as Martin's personal health care aids, Qi and Marlon for the exceptional and compassionate care that they gave during his lengthy stay. A memorial service will be held at Thomson In The Park , 1291 McGillivray Blvd. at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Care Centre.
