SHIRLEY MARGARET BRADSHAW On Friday, April 9, 2010 at Tuxedo Villa, Shirley passed away at the age of 87. Sadly, the Shirley we all knew and loved was taken from us earlier due to Alzheimers . Shirley was born to Cecil and Mabel Bradshaw on November 9, 1922. She attended Robert H. Smith School, Kelvin High, University of Manitoba and the Sorbonne in Paris. She began her career life teaching at the college level but found her calling in Human Resource Management. Everyone who knew Shirley remembers her as a very busy person. She worked at Great West Life, was the Director of Personnel for the Province of Manitoba and prior to retirement was Director of the Women's Bureau, working to promote women in the workforce. She served on many boards and committees such as the Social Planning Council of Winnipeg, the University Women's Club, the Manitoba Historical Society, Creative Retirement, Pi Beta Phi, the United Way, United Nations, LEAF and many other organizations. She was a founding member of WIN, Winnipeg Into The Nineties. Shirley was a great patron of the arts in Winnipeg, supporting the Manitoba Opera, Winnipeg Symphony, Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Manitoba Theatre Centre and Prairie Theatre Exchange. She loved to travel and covered much of the globe, the Far East, Far North, Europe, the U.S., Caribbean and even rounded Cape Horn in South America. Through her travels and interests, Shirley made many lifelong friends. She is survived by her family, Geraldine, Doug, Alyson, Melissa, Chantel and Conan Raynard, Arlene, Don and Kira MacLeod, Kellie, Chad, Alyssa, Ethan, Natasha and Cohen Winzinowich, her Bradshaw relatives in Saskatchewan and New York and very dear friend Ernestine Fenny. We will honour Shirley's life on Saturday, April 17 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park on McGillivray Boulevard. Donations may be made to The University Women's Club of Winnipeg, Prairie Theatre Exchange or a charity of your choice.
