ALEXANDER R. JACK September 4, 1929 - March 18, 2010 After a three year battle with cancer, Alex passed away peacefully at Teulon Hospital with family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 55 years, Islay (nee Fraser); daughter Karen (Len Dushnicky), Drew, Grant, Jill and Wade; son Sandy (Sharon), Alana, Lindsey and Breanne; son Brian (Kathryn), Megan, Colin and Blaine; brothers Ron (Nita) and Richard (Judy); many nieces, nephews and good friends. Alex was born in Victoria, BC and grew up in Great Central Lake and Port Alberni. Alex met Islay while he was working in Port Alice as a journeyman machinist. They married on June 21, 1954 and in 1957 moved to Gunton, MB where they farmed and raised their family. They retired to Teulon in 1997. Alex and Islay loved to travel. They enjoyed cruises, train and bus tours, road trips with their van, family and Redboine Good Sam campouts. He considered himself a Jack of all trades and enjoyed many hobbies and activities, from which lasting friendships were made. He was a devoted family man and will be deeply missed by family and friends. Thanks and appreciation to Dr. Lindenschmidt, Melanie and Debbie of Selkirk CancerCare; Dr. Loudon and Teulon Hospital staff for their extraordinary care and compassion. A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Teulon Rockwood Centennial Centre, Teulon, MB with a reception to follow. If friends wish, donations may be made in Alex's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital Foundation.
