ELVIN THEON HEWITT 1919 - 2010. It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Elvin Hewitt on March 4, 2010, at age 90 at Riverview Hospital, Winnipeg, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Dad was born in Trinidad on March 23, 1919 and immigrated with his family to Canada in 1971, where he settled in Winnipeg. Beloved husband of Marjorie; dearly loved father of Joan Hinkson, Janice Forte, Elvin Hewitt, Dianne Hewitt, Dawn Paul, Derek Hewitt and Dale Hewitt; in-laws, Leslie Hinkson, Peter Ferris, Joe Paul, Glenda Kowlessar, Girma Mogess and Linda Pompana; Grandfather of Tracey, Dayna, Natalie, Kamala, Adrian, Lisa, Elvin, Christian, Shawn, Curtis, Candace, Nikeisha, Chantel, Ashlee, Theon, Daniel, Quahaila, Jeveva, Kanaba, Skye and Addis. Elvin is survived by his sisters Irma, Baby and Elma in Trinidad and also leaves behind great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren Lisa and Mark Ferris, and many good friends to mourn his passing. We especially want to thank all the many people who supported dad and our family during his lengthy illness including friends, neighbours, Doctor Karvelas and Dr. Lowden, as well as staff at Riverview Hospital, and homecare attendants. A private funeral with family and close friends has already taken place.
