Dennis is survived by his loving wife Sophie, daughter Lisa and her husband Jeff Smedvik, grandchildren Jason (Rachel Fehr) and Tamara; sisters-in-law Opal Swedberg, Gladys Swedberg, brothers-in-law Stan Bereza, Victor Bereza, also many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Oscar Swedberg, mother Helen Swedberg, and his three brothers, Glenn, Orie, and Terry Swedberg. Dennis was born in Marchwell, Saskatchewan and moved to Winnipeg in 1952. He worked for Eastern Smallware as a general manager for 25 years, moving on to Codville as a buyer. He met Sophie and they married in 1961, celebrating their 49th wedding anniversary on April 15. Upon retirement he became interested in woodworking and painting where his artistry and story writing abilities came about, much to everyone's delightful surprise. He was also a huge part of his daughter and grandchildren's lives, having an avid interest in everything they accomplished. We miss you Dad. Dennis was diagnosed with cancer in June 2009 and accepted the disease with dignity and grace and did not let it slow him down. He was at home with his caring wife until the last two days of his life. The family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba and their palliative care nurses for their compassion, and kindness and also Riverview Health Center especially Linda and Barbara. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to cancer research. In accordance to his wishes, no public formal funeral service will be held.
