RALPH MCIVOR - OSCAR - Following a lengthy illness and surrounded by his loving family, Ralph Oscar McIvor passed away on April 25, 2010 at the Seven Oaks Hospital, at the age of 63 years. Oscar will be lovingly remembered by his siblings, Harriet McIvor, Andrew McIvor, Denis McIvor, Olga McIvor, Judy Doolittle (Wayne), extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his special friend Adel (Punajah-ens), his parents, Moise and Flora McIvor, brothers Abraham, Charles, Fred, Aylmer and Howard McIvor; sisters Hilda Starr and Rosalina Haines-Roulette. Oscar was born and raised in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation Reserve. He started working on the family farm at an early age where he developed good work ethics. As a young man, he had a dream to see the Toronto Tower, and the Calgary CN Tower and managed to be there for both grand openings. His job working for C.N.R. and C.P.R. allowed him to see the Rocky Mountains, Western Canada and most of Ontario. He fell in love with British Columbia and he lived in Vancouver most of his life. He also traveled into the United States whenever he had an opportunity. He shared many stories of his travels, some amusing but always fascinating. During his stay at Seven Oaks Hospital, he often dreamt of his former job and thought he had to go to work. His last words were of Vancouver and his time there. Wake will begin on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. and will continue until the Service on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mosaic Funeral Chapel, 1839 Inkster Blvd., Pastor Gilbert Catcheway officiating.
