THOMAS JOHN YANUSKA 1944 - 2010 On Sunday, April 25, 2010, Tom passed away after a ten year battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Arlene, son Tom (Nicole), daughter Lori and four grandchildren Dustin, Brandon, Chelsea, and Taylor. He is also survived by his brothers Joseph (Joanne) and Michael, and nephews Timmy and Joey, niece Jayme in California, sister Suzanne (Henry) and nephew Miles in New York. His Canadian family consists of mother-in-law Georgie Mager and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Thomas, mother Dorothy and father-in-law Joseph Mager. Since coming to Canada in the early 1970s, Tom worked as a cook for the Hickory House, Perky's, Northstar Inn, Delta Winnipeg, Dakota Motor Hotel, Airliner, Canad Inn Windsor Park and Canad Inn Club Regent. Tom was a Scoutmaster with the 149th Christ the King. He loved baseball where he played in the Winnipeg Men's Slo-pitch as well as Kildonan Co-Ed. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren's accomplishments in baseball and football. We wish to extend special thanks to Dr. Ebbeling-Treon, Dr. Goytan, his CancerCare Doctors Sathya, Lau and Gingerich and his Kidney Specialists Doctors Fine, Armstrong and Hoskings. Also the Palliative Care Team at St. Boniface Hospital. He was well cared for at home by all his nurses and home care workers especially Gillian who held a special place in his heart. On Saturday, May 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., friends and family are invited to a come-and-go celebration of Tom's life at 106 - 41 Clayton Drive, Winnipeg, MB. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
