JOHN (JACK) KRASSIE It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of John (Jack) Krassie on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. John died peacefully, surrounded by love, after a lengthy heart condition. John is survived by his ever-loving wife, Angela (Nellie), his daughter Jacquie, his three grandchildren, Cassandra, Alexandra and Tristan, his brothers-in-law Ted (Rose) and Art (Jo-Anne) and their families, and extended family Jas and Gerry St. Laurent and family, Bill and Sylvia Jensen and family, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba before moving to Saskatchewan where he lived with his parents and two brothers, Frank and Bill until he joined the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Force where he remained a proud member until he retired. At that time John worked for the the Provincial Government, Attorney General's Department for 12 years. After his retirement John kept busy at his cottage ('pride and joy') at Winnipeg Beach, practicing the art of 'fixing whatever was broken'. During the winter John and Angie would often head south to Los Angeles to visit John's brother and to Australia to spend time with their grandchildren. A lifelong curling enthusiast with a keen eye for strategy, John's last win on the ice was in 2004 skipping a team with his three grand-children. Dancing and socializing and meeting new friends made many special evenings. John's trademark was a dynamic combination of determination, a relentless respect for life and a fierce loyalty to his friends and family. He was kind, caring, generous, hard working, always ready to help anyone day or night, a man with a heart of gold. A gentleman to the end, we will miss you. The family would like to thank the staff at the Grace General Hospital for their support during John's admissions. Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Arthritis Society. John's funeral service will be held at Blessed John XXIII (Assiniboia Christian Centre), 3390 Portage Avenue, on Friday April, 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Gerald Langevin will officiate. Prayers will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Avenue, on Thursday April 29 at 7:00 p.m. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
