John was born on November 24, 1911, in Headingley, MB. He married Helene Lamarre on February 22, 1938. Together they resided in Headingley, where they raised six children. The years spent caring for their son Dennis were a testimony to their strong faith and love of family. John was a well-known and respected businessman in the Headingley area. While working full time at the C.P.R. Railway shops, Dad also succeeded in building a wood, coal and oil operation into a thriving bulk fuel sales business and service station. John will always be remembered for his honesty, integrity, positive attitude toward life, and keen sense of humour. Many happy hours were spent in the company of his friends from the Headingley 55 Club. Dad looked forward to those regular outings, and his family sincerely appreciated the kindness and comradeship shown to him by all the members of this organization. We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff of Starbuck Home Care whose dedicated service allowed Dad to remain in the comfort of his home for many years. In January 2009 John moved into Oakview Place. There he enjoyed numerous social activities, and we are very grateful for the excellent care Dad received from the compassionate staff at Oakview. Prayers will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 10:30 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m., in the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church, 320 St. Charles Street, with Rev. Father Paul Tinguely, presiding. Pallbearers will be John's grandchildren, Terri Baldwin, Debbie Wills, Dennis Girard, Bryan Houde, Philip Houde, and Roland Mollot. Flowers are gratefully declined.
