MARY YAKIMYSZYN (Stankewich) Peacefully, in the early hours of April 24, 2010, Mary passed away at Fred Douglas Lodge at the age of 95. Mary was born and spent her entire life in Winnipeg. Left to cherish her memory are her children and grandchildren Georgina (Jack), Janet, Stephen Lewis and Tim (Francis) Stevens and their children Amanda, Melinda, Nathan and three great grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Stephen, whom she missed deeply as well as her parents, Nicholas and Anna, and her younger sisters, Anne and Stephanie (Stevie). She was both a big sister and a mother to them to the end. In keeping with Mary's wishes, cremation and a private family service have already taken place. A private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, at Mary's request donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Mary's family would like to express their deep and lasting appreciation for the care she received first at Fred Douglas Residence and later on the Oak Unit, Fred Douglas Lodge.
