PAUL GAERKE May 9, 1937 April 29, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Gaerke on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB after a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure. Born in Königs Wusterhausen, Germany, he moved to Canada in November, 1960 at 23 years of age. In Canada he settled in Winnipeg where he met his wife Elizabeth and started a family. His primary joys were his family, golfing, bowling, playing cards, spending time with friends and being outdoors. Paul is survived by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth; his sons Paul and James; their wives Lenora and Stella; and his grandchildren Alyssa, Mathew, Alexandre and Larissa. All of whom will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his father Georg, mother Gertrud, and brother Georg. The family would like to thank the staff in the Cardiology Department at St. Boniface Hospital for all of their support and care to Paul and his family during his frequent visits and numerous hospital stays. The family would also like to thank all of the friends and family who visited and showed their enduring support during this difficult period. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street, Winnipeg.
