Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARION JEAN HODGINS EISLER August 23, 1924 - April 27, 2010 Marion was the first born to Parents Elsie Marion Finlayson and William Clarence Hodgins in the Town of Oak Lake, Manitoba. Siblings: Brother William Hugh (Bill), Patricia Mary, and surviving Sister Barbara Ann. The Hodgins moved to Winnipeg in 1929. Mom fondly remembered summers taking their Model T Ford to go camping in Manitoba's Whiteshell Provincial Park and Hoban's Park. Marion and her friend Barbara Schofield Park, graduated from Lord Selkirk School in 1942. In 1948 Mom met Dad, William James Eisler. Married in 1949, together they raised six children: Diane Jean, Barbara Allyn Pasaur (Wally), Beverly Ann TerHorst (Bob), Donna Mae Stewart, Margaret Lorraine (Doug Grant), and John Alexander. Marion's life was wonderful; full of family, friends, adventure and her career. In 1949 pregnant with Diane, Marion moved to the Lodge at Gull Lake to help her Mom feed the highway crew building the new road to Victoria Beach. In the 1960s, with her husband Bill, they built a cabin at Lester Beach. She travelled the world to Ireland, Australia, Africa; to name a few. Her passion was words. Marion loved Scrabble and enjoyed beating all comers. She was a prolific and interesting writer who kept in contact with friends and family. Marion kept journals of her adventures and published her Father's First World War Diary/Cartoons. She published in Mosaic of Memories about her time as the Blue Cross Girl in the 1940s. In the early days of computers Mom taught keypunching at Red River Community College. Her crafting skills included knitting Barbie clothes. She belonged to Sun Country Arts and Crafts. In 1973, John and Mom visited Toronto staying with Mom's cousin Ann Wall in Rosedale; spent time with Aunt Madge, cousins Verna and Norma. While there, Mom discovered her great-great-grandfather Hugh Finlayson; pictured in the Provincial Legislative Assembly. Marion's grandchildren, Jessica and Johnathan - children of Beverly and Bob TerHorst, Kathleen - child of Barb and Walter Pasaur, and her great-grandchild Jenova were her delights. The Family would like to thank Middlechurch Home for their care and compassion of our Mom! Graveside Service at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 5 at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MS Society of Manitoba or charity of choice.
