AREND HORDYK Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints. Psalm 116:15 On April 29, 2010 Arend (Art) Hordyk was suddenly called home to his Lord and Saviour at the age of 82. Arend was born in Delft, Netherlands on August 15, 1927. He immigrated to Canada with his wife Maartje and two sons in 1955. Arend is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, children Len (Ann) Hordijk of Lac du Bonnet, Tom (Diane) Hordyk of Winnipeg, Gilbert (Alice) Hordyk of Winnipeg, Carol (Henry) Janssens of Thunder Bay, ON, Marc (Miriam) Hordyk of Winnipeg, Marlene (Tiemon) Schelhaas of Thunder Bay, ON, along with 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by one grandchild. He spent many years serving his Lord as a devoted husband, father, leader, role model, church elder, grandfather, great-grandfather and mentor. He loved to sing, praising his Lord with psalms and hymns. He eagerly spent time helping at the Gospel Mission. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 5 at 11:00 a.m., PROVIDENCE REFORMED CHURCH 2615 Henderson Hwy. Interment will follow the service at Green Acres Cemetery, #1 Hwy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the BibleLeague of Canada.
