Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHRISTOF (CHRISTOPHER) KEHL 1921 - 2010 Christopher passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Beacon Hill Lodge. He was born and raised in Olgenfeldt, Russia, to Jakob and Magdalene Kehl. During the Second World War and afterwards, Chris was unable to reach any of his family, including sisters: Emilie Scharf, Regine Kiefer, Augustine Janina, Katrine Dreher, and brothers Jakob, Michel, and Adam. He lived in Germany after the war and married Klara Lutz. In 1954, Chris, Klara, and family emigrated to Canada. He worked on a mink ranch in Charleswood for two years before moving to Winnipeg where he worked for James B. Carter/Temro Co. until his retirement. Chris was a well-educated, hard working, family man whose interest in politics and civic duty were strong. He encouraged his children and grandchildren to be studious and industrious. Chris was predeceased by his wife Klara, stepson Dieter, and granddaughter Debbie Smythe. He leaves to mourn, his daughter Ursula Smythe, grandson Christopher Smythe, (Stephanie Dupras) and great-grandchildren Olivia, Nicolas, Clara, and Julia Smythe. The family is very grateful to the staff of Beacon Hill Lodge who cared for Chris and treated him with compassion and respect. A private graveside service was held at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens.
