AILEEN JOHNSTONE It is with heavy hearts that the family of Aileen Johnstone announces her passing on April 17, 2010, at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her husband Christopher, daughter Pam Dean, brother Ron Heald (Ruth), brother Derek Heald (Margery), brother Cecil Heald, brother-in-law Bernie, nephew Raynor, nephew Mel, sister-in-law Thelma and her husband Bill. She is survived by her son Neil (Karin), her daughter Pat, her sister Marion, niece Vikki (Jon), nephew Clark (Alea), son-in-law Jack Dean, grandchildren Jeff (Nikki), Michael (Sabrina), Christopher (Honeylyn), Scott, Dean, great-grandchildren Brianna and Rylan, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews in both the United States and England. Aileen was born in Kneesall, England, daughter of Cyril Llewellyn Raynor Heald and Ethel Alice Longbottom. Her mother died when Aileen was quite young and so she came to have a stepmother, Elizabeth. Aileen met her husband, Chris, prior to the war and they were married February 20, 1943. Following the war they moved to Winnipeg with their infant son Neil and had two more children, daughters Pam and Pat. Aileen was a family oriented person who loved family dinners in her little house on the prairie as she called it, and always put everyone else first. She was very hospitable, always finding room for folks who came to visit and greatly enjoyed their company. She was famous for her scones and crab apple jelly and was a knitting machine giving many gifts to friends and family. Aileen enjoyed taking trips to New York, California and Arizona visiting her sister Marion and her late husband Bernie. She was a lifetime member of Christ Church and served in the Women's Auxiliary there. She worked at Universal Printers and Sanford Evans for many years. The family will be forever indebted to Auntie Marion and the wonderful workers and nurses from Home Care, for the loving kindness you showed Aileen. You are all very special people. A family graveside service has taken place as per Aileen's request. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba, 109-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, or to a charity of your choice.
