ELIZABETH DORA LOUISE SMITH (MITCHELL) (nee CAMPBELL) Elizabeth Smith formerly of 3030 Pembina Highway, passed away peacefully on Friday April 30, 2010 at the Poseidon Personal Care Home. Betty was predeceased by her parents, one brother and sister and husbands Alex Mitchell in 1968 and Stanley Smith in 1985. She was also predeceased by her loving daughter Phyllis in 2007 and Phyllis' husband Leigh in 2009. Betty is survived, loved and missed by daughters Darlene (Jim) and Marilou (Neil), grandchildren Cathie (Chris), David (Laura), Ben (Lindsay), Patrick (Sarah), Victoria, Sheryl, and Alan (Phillippa), great-grandchildren Ryan, Taylor, Colton, Zachary, Caleb, Hannah, Timothy, TJ, Ryder and Chase and her only surviving brother Ed Campbell (Vicky). Betty was a founding member of the Pembina Curling Club, a very supportive member of the Alzheimer Family Support Group and a past Board Member of the Condo Association at 3030 Pembina Highway. Curling was a great love of Betty's. She travelled with spouse Mitch to many briers and was a member of the host committee when Winnipeg hosted the Brier. Betty was a very sociable person and really enjoyed entertaining. Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends and will be fondly remembered for her willingness to support others, her determination to be independent, non-judgmental and strong in the face of challenges and never complained. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 5 in Suite 714 - 3030 Pembina Highway at 2:00 p.m. Marilou and Darlene would like to sincerely thank the 4th floor staff at Poseidon Personal Care Home with special appreciation to Gayle, Marina and Mary Ellen for their kind supportive and astute care of Mom.
