Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLAFUR (MARVIN) ANDERSON 1927 - 2010 It is with great sadness and fond memories that we announce the passing of our brother Marvin. He was predeceased by his wife Grace, son Gary and daughter Karen. He was also predeceased by his brother Ingvar (Andy) and his sister Irene. Born in Riverton, Manitoba to Icelandic settlers, Marvin was the oldest of five children. As a young adult, he spent time in Ninette TB Sanitorium in Southern Manitoba. He married Grace (nee Macdonald) and settled in Surrey where their two children were born. Marvin was a hard worker and was employed at Western Canada Steel until his retirement. An avid fisherman, gardener and wine-maker, Marvin was a real people person . The door to his home was always open as he thoroughly enjoyed hosting social gatherings. Marvin was also a great story teller; a true fisherman at heart. A big, strong uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, Marvin also became an excellent historian to his great nieces and nephews and enjoyed their visits. Marvin will be fondly remembered by many relatives, friends and neighbours and especially missed by his sister Elsie and brother Barney. Special thanks to those who faithfully visited Marvin while in hospital. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from the Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, 13288 108th Avenue, Surrey, BC. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Lung Association. www.lung.ca/don/index e.php
