AGNES DIANE MACDONALD (nee MACIVER) Suddenly on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, Diane passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 76 years. Remaining to forever cherish Diane's memory are her children, Donald MacDonald (Jackie), Margaret Pinder (Ian); beloved grandchildren, Riley, Tayler, Avery, Brian and Kevin; sister Frances Ballingall, numerous nieces, nephews; sisters-in-law and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Stan; sister Margaret; brothers, Jack and Bruce MacIver. Diane lived her entire life in St. James, and spent her working years with Air Canada. This allowed her, in retirement, to pursue her passion for travel. She planned each trip with joy, and relished every journey for the friends she made; the relatives with whom she connected; and the sights she was able to treasure. Diane toured the moors of Scotland; sailed on a Windjammer in the Caribbean; sipped wine in France; walked the Acropolis in Athens, to name but a few of her adventures. True to her Scottish heritage, Diane had a love for the bagpipes and many styles of music. She had a clear and beautiful voice and loved to sing from the pew or around the piano. In the summer, she could be seen tending to her yard and garden, always making changes until she had it just as she wanted. It was her pride and joy. Her home was filled with pictures of family, as nothing in her life held as much importance. Diane's door was always open, and you were always greeted with a cheery Get in my house . Her frankness was also legendary she always said don't ask a question that you don't want an answer to . Her friends also held a prominent place in her heart with the formation in her school years of The Hen Club , and she maintained those friendships her entire life. Her circle of friends was strong and wide, a testament to her loyalty and fun loving nature. Diane had an infectious laugh and a smile that could always brighten your day. She was very involved in the St. James Senior Centre, and a longtime member of St. Paul the Apostle Church. Her volunteer nature led many a project in both venues, as saying no was not in her vocabulary. Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, May 10, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 2400 Portage Avenue with Rev. Fr. Mark Tarrant, presiding. A private family Graveside Service will be held in Chapel Lawn Cemetery. The family would like to thank everyone for their support in recent months; it could not have been done without the support of all of you. We especially thank her dear friends Verna, Lesley and Lorraine - she treasured you. Flowers are gratefully declined. In Diane's own words it is more important that the hungry are fed so please make donations to a charity that would fulfill her request.
