GLENN GINN Peacefully, with his family at his side, Glenn Dale Ginn passed away on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. Glenn leaves to mourn his loving wife, Georgina, and their children, Dale and Shelley, of Kenora, ON, Geoffrey and Gisele, of Winnipeg, MB, and Deanna and Kris of Brandon, MB. He is also cherished by seven grandchildren, Carl, Nicole, Logan, Adam, Owen, Emily, and baby Benjamin. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Glenn is survived by his sisters Eleanor Casson of Emerson, MB and Iris Solnes (Gordon) of Vancouver, BC, sister-in-law Lorraine (Alen) Unger of Ste. Rose du Lac, MB, brother-in-law Fred (Frieda) Hiebert of Winnipeg, MB, and mother-in-law Eva Hiebert of Altona, MB. Glenn was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie and Raymond Ginn, sister Betty-Lou March, brothers-in-law Jerry Lewis, Jos March, and Henry Casson, as well as his father-in-law, Henry Hiebert. Glenn was born on May 26, 1937, in Vita, MB. He grew up on the Ginn family homestead in Dominion City, and made his home there with Georgina when they married in 1963. They retired to Kenora, ON in 2006. Glenn worked as a grader/snow plow operator for the Department of Highways for over 21 years. He assisted many families in difficult times through his work with Loewen Funeral Chapels and Larsen's Memorials. A dedicated and active member of the community, Glenn committed to managing and coaching local hockey throughout his life. He was a devoted volunteer to the Dominion City swimming pool and park, and was active in local politics. Glenn was a volunteer firefighter for many years, acting as Chief from 1971 to 1977. He was a lifelong member of the B.P.O. Elks and a faithful member of the board and various committees of the Dominion City United Church. In his later years, Glenn enjoyed golfing, travelling with Georgina, attending Knox United Church in Kenora, and curling. Above all of his other passions, Glenn's favourite pastime was being with and talking about his family. He had a great sense of humour, a gentle spirit, and a kind heart. The family would like to thank the caring staff of St. Boniface and Lake of the Woods District hospitals. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Knox United Church, with Rev. Cheryl Kinney-Matheson presiding. Glenn's grandchildren will act as his honourary pallbearers. His ashes will be interred in Dominion City at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Roseau Crossing Heritage Park (Box 33, Dominion City, MB R0A 0H0) or the Canadian Cancer Society.
