EDWARD BEDNAREK October 17, 1927 - May 4, 2010 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, great-grandfather (GG), Ed Bednarek, aged 82 years of Steep Rock, MB, on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Stonewall Hospital. Ed was one of five children born to the late Ben and Martha Bednarek. He grew up on the family farm in Steep Rock with brothers Steve and Tony and sisters Helen and Ruthie. As a young man Ed was employed by the railroad working on the section crew. Later his career path led him to LaFarge Canada Cement in Steep Rock where he was employed until his retirement January 1, 1989. July 14, 1951 was a very special day as this is when Ed married Ruth Jardine in Spearhill, MB. They settled in Steep Rock and began raising their family there. Ed enjoyed curling, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and collecting. Over the years his collection of vehicles owned grew to 61 in total. To this collection he also had 23 snow machines. Take my vehicle was a phrase we heard often. Left to treasure his memories are his son, Keith (Heather); granddaughter Megan (Mark), who was the apple of his eye; great-grandson (GG) Mason, who he absolutely adored; sister Ruthie (Doug) Stefanson along with numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service to be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the Steep Rock Community Hall with Bill Watson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Foundation Inc., 675 McDermot Ave., Room ON1160, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to a charity of one's choice. We wish to thank everyone who took the time to visit Ed in the hospital during the last few weeks of his life. We know he appreciated each and every visitor. He would talk non-stop about who had visited each day. Arrangements by: ARNASON FUNERAL HOME Ashern Lundar 1-204-768-2072 1-866-323-3593

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I remember when Ed had to walk 4 miles to Steep Rock school, which was a mile out of town. Am pleased to see that he moved off the farm to work at the Canada Cement company. A more secure future. Farewell Ed! - Posted by: Harry Armstrong (Classmate Steep Rock school) on: Feb 13, 2013
