AIME LAPOINTE On May 10, 2010 after a three year battle with cancer, Aimé passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre in the arms of his beloved wife. He was 55 years old. He will be deeply mourned by his wife Gaylene (Foster, Lord), daughter Tiffany (Bill Sitar), son Tomas (Pam), stepchildren Courtney Lord (Jim Hanwell) and Trevor Lord (Amy Thom). He will also be remembered with much love by the lights of his life, grandsons Brayden Lapointe and Trevor Lord. Predeceased by his parents Sam and Maggie Lapointe, and sister Helene Robert, he will be missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Aline and Don Patterson, Pauline and Claude Grouette, Rolande and Don Bolduc, Laurette Gorets, Lucie and John Bourgeois and brother-in-law Louis Robert (Rita Rosnow), and Gaylene's family, mother-in-law Evelyn Foster, and sisters-in-law Janice Bortoluzzi (Gordon), Maureen Foster and Shelley Foster. He will be also missed by his 41 nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. In 2001 Aimé started a new chapter in his life. He met Gaylene and they began what was to become a very loving, fulfilling life together. They had a deep love and respect for each other and on a trip to Niagara Falls in 2004 they were engaged. On April 23, 2005, they were married and celebrated Aimé's 50th birthday with family and friends. They travelled to many places including Cuba, Quebec, British Columbia, Toronto and Las Vegas. Their most anticipated trip was the annual week long fishing trip at the end of May with good friends Peggy and Dale Albrecht. Catch a couple for Aimé this year guys! He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and was a sensitive, loving, under-standing man with a great sense of humour. Aimé was a very friendly and outgoing man, who was loved by all who knew him. He was an owner/operator for 35 years, working for many trucking companies, the last one being Mission Express. He was a very hard worker and loved his job. In 2006, Aimé retired from the road so he could be home with his wife and family. He then worked at Tandet Logistics, where he formed a deep bond with Steve Whitty whom we thank so much for being there to help Aimé and the family through the last days of his journey. Thank you to Dr. R. Hayward for years of excellent care, and a thank you to the doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba. Thank you to the palliative care home team and a big thank you to the staff of Riverview Health Centre for their outstanding compassion and care, especially nurses Dawne and Arlene and Dr. Robin McClure. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Donations to CancerCare Manitoba in Aimé's memory would be appreciated.
