GEORGE GILBERT EDGINTON
Date of Passing: May 11, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE GILBERT EDGINTON It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of George Edginton on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 peacefully at home. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Krentz. He leaves to mourn his wife of 51 years, Shirley, his children Tim (Joan Hardy, Stefan and Ian), Gord (Susan, Kurtis), Holly Kotowich (Ken, Jennifer and Colton), and Kyle (Amelia Yap, Matthew, Andrew and Natalie), and his brother Ernie. George was born in Winnipeg in 1938. He spent his early years in North Kildonan, with summers in Birds Hill. In 1957, his life changed forever when he met the love of his life, Shirley Fell. A spring wedding in 1959 was followed by a lifetime filled with family fun, with homes in Winnipeg and Selkirk, and summers at Matlock. Faced with an empty nest, George and Shirley moved to their dream home in Clandeboye, where they enjoyed a waterfront lifestyle on Medicine Creek. His careers included diesel mechanics, printing with Universal Printers and Brigdens of Winnipeg, and maintenance mechanics with Abex/Amsco, from where he retired in 1989. Although challenged for many years with rheumatoid arthritis, George never lost his zest for life nor his devilish sense of humour. He loved his family, and they loved him. George was immensely proud of his grandchildren. In keeping with George's wishes, cremation has taken place. A come-and-go celebration of his life will be held at George and Shirley's place on Saturday, May 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice will be much appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
