RAYMOND (BING) CROSBY October 10, 1921 May 12, 2010 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Raymond (Bing) Crosby on Wednesday May 12, 2010 at the Health Sciences Center. Surrounded by his loving family, Dad died peacefully after a long and active 88 years. He is survived by his wife Leslie; sons Dale, Robert (Deborah), and Donald, and daughters Patricia and Marilyn (Russ). He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren David, Andrew, Brian, Michael, Stephanie, and Matthew. Raymond also leaves behind a sister Muriel and brother Kenneth (Nova Scotia). A sister Glenna predeceased him. A 27 year military career in the RCAF included being a Physical Training instructor during the war, followed by his work in construction engineering. He retired as a Captain in 1970. He was honoured with the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1939-1945, and the Canadian Forces Decoration and Clasp. Dad loved music, especially strumming his guitar. He enjoyed musical duets with Mom on the harmonica. In his retirement he used his cabinet making skills to build guitars, dulcimers, a mandolin, and many fine pieces of furniture and other items. Bing was very interested in camping and taking his family across Canada and the U.S. many times. He built his first two trailers. For over 20 years, he and Leslie drove to Florida, and to their cottage in Nova Scotia, which he also built. Their last trip to Florida was just this past March. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive. Interment will take place later in Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Suite 200 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
