FREDA INTRATER Peacefully and surrounded by her family on May 8, 2010 at the age of 80 years, at the Seven Oaks General Hospital. Freda was predeceased by her father Louis, mother Doris, husband of 48 years, Morris, and their daughter Rhonda. Freda will be lovingly remembered by her brother Arthur (Alliette), her children Marcie (Bruce), Howard, Murray, Sheldon and Sharon (Lewis) and grandchildren, Jason, Dayna, Brett, Collin, Jenna, Illana, Alexie, and Mason. From a very early age, Freda's life centered on the welfare and wellbeing of her family. As a child, coming to Canada from Poland with her Mother and Father, Freda took on many of the responsibilities of her family including helping to raise her brother Arthur. When she married her husband Morris, their initial joy at starting a family unfortunately turned to sorrow as their first born child, Rhonda was diagnosed with Leukemia. For five precious years Freda and Morris devoted all of their strength and energy to caring for Rhonda while also making a loving and nurturing home life for their other children. Freda was involved in every aspect and at every stage of the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, friend, coach and confidant. She was very proud of and derived tremendous happiness from all of her children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. One of her greatest joys in life was baking and cooking. Freda was the greatest cook in the world. No one ever walked away from Freda's dining table unsatisfied or with room for anything more. Freda's devotion, love and support for her family will always be cherished. Her memory will be present to help us celebrate during times of joy and to comfort us during times of sorrow. Our love for you Mom will stay in our hearts and minds forever. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Boroditsky, Dr. Sean Armstrong and the staff of 5U1, 5U3 and the Dialysis Unit at the Seven Oaks General Hospital for all their care and attention to our Mother during her admission. Funeral Services were held May 10, 2010 at the Etz Chayim Synagogue lead by Rabbi Larry Lander with Cantor Tracy Kasner Greaves. Pallbearers included Monty Litinsky, Richard Litinsky, Irv Simmonds, Lewis Minuk, Brett Intrater, Collin Intrater and honorary pallbearer Terry Korchak. Shiva was held at the home of Sharon and Lewis Minuk. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Seven Oaks General Hospital Dialysis Unit, or a charity of your choice.
