SIMONE MARIE YVETTE BELL (nee COMBOT) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Simone. She left us peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, May 9, 2010. Simone was born on February 7, 1940 in Aubigny and grew up in St. Germain. She began her career with James Richardson Sons in 1956 where she retired in 1998. On September 3, 1960 she married the love of her life, Elgin Bell. They loved travelling and enjoyed many trips together. They spent many years continuing the horse racing tradition, especially at the Manitoba Stampede, and throughout Manitoba. After her retirement, Simone enjoyed cutting their lawn on her riding mower, and learned to use her home computer. She quickly got involved on the internet, and loved all the email friends she shared time with. Simone was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Melanie Combot, Bob and Florence Bell; her brothers Rene and Paul; her brothers-in-law Art Bell, Angus McLeod, and Bill Bell; and sister-in-law Marie Bell. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 49 years, Elgin; her sisters Annette (Oscar) Courchaine, Jeanine (Ray) Monita; her sisters-in-law Mona Combot, Diane Olivier, Lorraine McLeod, Dorothy (Paul) Leduc; many nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends; and her faithful cat Buddy. Thank you to Dr. Salem and the staff on the 4th floor of the Victoria Hospital for the kindness and care extended to Simone and her family. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Adolphe Roman Catholic Church, with Fr. Celestin Malengu Mubaya presiding. If friends so desire, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9; or a charity of your choice.
