Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT CLIFFORD BERKE January 28, 1923 - January 22, 2010 Albert peacefully passed away in Chilliwack General Hospital, Chilliwack, BC on January 22, 2010 at the age of 86. Albert struggled with his health for over 30 years. He will be loved and missed by his partner, Shirley Mae Hamilton and his children, Iris Deschamps (John), Bob Berke and Martin Berke. He will also be sadly missed by his four grandchildren, Laura Williamson (Dwayne Klippert), Rob Berke (Sandy), Rick Berke (Melissa) and Bobbi-Jean Berke. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Vera Berke (nee Chapman) and his brother Victor Martin Berke and wife Gloria. Albert was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and lived there until he joined the Royal Canadian Navy in his youth. He served his country during the Second World War and the Korean War. After his naval career, he became an employee of Corrections Canada working in BC until he retired in 1983. After his retirement, he moved back to his beloved Manitoba and lived in the Lac du Bonnet area until his return to British Columbia in 2007. Albert's four nephews, Jeff, Larry, Chris and Paul Berke, their wives and children were always a source of pleasure and assistance for him and Shirley. Friends and family are invited to a memorial and celebration of Albert's life to be held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Lutheran Hall 253 McArthur St. in Lac du Bonnet at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Albert's life would be deeply appreciated.
