JAN FYDA December 21, 1924 - May 16, 2010 Peacefully on May 16, 2010 Jan passed away after a brief struggle with cancer. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Mary in 1997. Jan is survived by his loving daughter Doreen (Jim Caithness) and grand-children Nicole and Kyle and his daughter Kimberley (Leonard Ray) and grandson Billy. Jan was born in Poland and grew up on a farm. He survived the War years as a prisoner in various labor camps. Jan immigrated to Canada in 1950 where he learned English, obtained his electrician papers and worked for the railway for 25 years. He married Mary in 1956. Jan enjoyed the outdoors, spending much time at his cottage at Hillside Beach and later visiting his daughter's cottage at Leaside Beach. He enjoyed reading and loved visiting with his grandchildren Nicole and Kyle. He will be sorely missed, always loved and forever remembered. We would like to thank the staff of the east wing of St. Norbert Personal Care Home for their tender care of Jan. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.
