IRENE TYCHONICK (DEVODDER)
Date of Passing: May 16, 2010
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE TYCHONICK (nee DEVODDER) With her family at her side, Irene passed peacefully from this life and into the next on May 16, 2010. Born in St. Boniface, MB in 1918, Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter in 2003. She leaves to mourn her children, Roger (Joan) and Joan (Ernie); grandchildren, Russ and Tannys and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother Walter Devodder. Small in stature, Irene was a tender, loving and gentle soul with a generous heart for those she loved. Beware those who got in the way of any of them. She was a loving and devoted wife who always put home and family first. She was selfless in every regard. Irene was also a great cook and baker, and her family will always cherish the wonderful pies and meals that were so often the product of her kitchen. In her youth, Irene loved to go dancing at the Belgian Club with her polka-loving husband. She was a dedicated babysitter to her grandchildren. The family would like to extend their most sincere gratitude and appreciation to the health care workers at River East Personal Care Home who lovingly gave of themselves to ensure her comfort and care over the last five years. Flowers are gratefully declined. In Irene's memory, donations may be made to the Keep Them in School Foundation, 104 Regent Avenue East, P.O. Box 62055, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2C 0C0. A private gravesite service will be held. THE WATCHER She always leaned to watch for us, Anxious if we were late, In winter by the window, In summer by the gate. And though we mocked her tenderly, Who had such foolish care, The long way home would seem more safe Because she waited there. Her thoughts were all so full of us, She never could forget! And so I think that where she is She must be watching yet. Waiting till we come home to her, Anxious if we are late, Watching from Heaven's window, Leaning from Heaven's gate. Good Night Irene, we'll see you in our dreams.
