Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTARIKU TOLAWAK AKAWAK It is with sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Tariku Akawak on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. Tariku was born in Ghedo, West Shoa, Oromia State in Ethiopia. Tariku was an outstanding student and during his childhood he completed Grades 1 through 6 in three years, and has been a Top Student all throughout his school career. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English from the Teachers College in Kotobe, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. After graduation, Tariku worked as an English Instructor for one year, then worked as an expert for the Ministry of Culture and Information, for the State of Oromia. He also worked for the Ethiopia Radio Oromo language branch as a leading expert in promoting AIDS education program in co-operation with the BBC. He was sent to Egypt for further training. After completing his training in Egypt, Tariku decided to immigrate to Canada, and came to Winnipeg in 2004. His wife and two children joined him in 2005. In June 2008, Tariku joined Red River College for a two year accounting course, which he completed with honours. After graduation from Red River College, he worked for Congene Corporation as an Accountant, a position he truly loved, until his passing. Tariku is survived by his wife, Amelework M. Melaku, three children Meti Tariku Tolawak, Begna Tariku Tolawak, and Debie Tariku Tolawak. The Family would like to thank the Oromo communities in Winnipeg, Toronto, Washington, DC, as well as the Ethiopian and Eritrean Communities in Winnipeg, also thanks to all those who helped the family. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 12:00 noon, at Thomson In The Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Winnipeg. Interment to follow at Thomson In The Park Cemetery.
