THOMAS PAUL ATKINSON August 8, 1915 - May 16, 2010 Tom Atkinson's heart failed in the early morning of Sunday, May 16, 2010. Doris, his wife of 67 years, was at his side. Despite increasing frailty, his death surprised us since we all expected that he had a shot at making it to 100 years. Tom was born in Teulon, Manitoba, raised in Pinawa and schooled at Lac Du Bonnet. In 1941, he trained as a welder in Winnipeg, then joined Westeel-Rosco for his 38 year custom fabrication career. Tom worked mainly as a production foreman because of his helpful nature and ability to get along. He was denied war service because of his expertise guiding a female crew building airplane wings, a time of life he often reminisced about. Retiring at 65, he spent his remaining time tending garden, as a community volunteer and assisting his only child Dwight renovate his Vancouver home. Dwight practices there as an architect, author and artist. We thank Tom's numerous home care workers for their years of patient attendance. The Funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Boulevard, Winnipeg. If you are considering sending flowers, instead please make a charitable donation to your favourite charity in Tom's name. GLEN LAWN FUNERAL HOME 982-7550
