RODERICK JOHN MCISAAC September 13, 1960 - May 15, 2010 Peacefully in Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by the love of his family, Rod passed away just as the sun was rising on May 15, 2010. Left to mourn his passing are his beloved children Daniel, Matthew and Genelle, their mother Aleta, his sisters Deborah, Pam (Katelynne and Bradley) and Kim, his mother Phyllis as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who were beacons of joy over the past several difficult months. Rod is predeceased by his father Neil, and his infant brother Bradley. Rod packed a lot of living into his 49 years and touched many lives in the process. He was born in Victoria, BC and moved to Winnipeg with his family at the age of 16. It was here he married and started his family. Rod's children were the one true joy of his life. His heart was always on the west coast however he eventually settled in Edmonton, where he was residing at the time of his death. In December 2008, Rod was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia. It became apparent that a bone marrow transplant was necessary and on April 15, he received this precious gift from his sister Pam. Although the transplant appeared to be successful, Rod suffered an unforeseen complication on April 25, 2010. The damage was just too great and despite a valiant fight, he was not able to win the battle. Rod was a man of great faith who had finally made peace with his life and his creator and he worked hard to practice his newfound principals in all his affairs. We would like to thank his good friends, Bill and Drew for their hand in helping him to find this peace. We would also like to thank our extended family in Calgary for their love and support to both Dad and us. A celebration of Rod's life will be held at 250 Oxford Street at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2010. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. It's been a hell of ride.... sleep with the angels, Darlin'
