ALAIN BERNARD Suddenly on Monday, May 17, 2010 at his residence in Calgary, Alberta, Alain Bernard of Calgary, formerly of Haywood, Manitoba passed away at the age of 46 years. Funeral service will be held at the Haywood Community Hall on Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the Haywood Cemetery. Al was born on January 29, 1964 in St. Claude, Manitoba, son of Yvonne and Marcel Bernard. He was raised and received his education in Haywood, finishing his schooling in Portage. In 1986 he moved to Calgary where he resided until his passing. Al enjoyed running marathons, averaging one per year. He enjoyed curling and volunteering at a Centre for Physically Disabled People. Predeceased by his parents, one brother Ron, he leaves to mourn his passing, his sister Alice of Dryden, ON, her children, Jason and friend Heather (his children, Kassary and Zachary), Ernie and his wife Kylie (daughter Ayla), Estelle and her husband Walter (daughter Scout), Celeste (her children, Jonas and Cassie), brother Guy of Edmonton, AB, his sister Doris (Gerald) Scott and their children, Justin and Kyle. Also surviving is his brother-in-law Oc of Dryden; uncles, George Bernard and Clement Bernard and several cousins and friends. Al will be sadly missed by his special friend Tabitha and her family. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a donation in Al's memory to Doctor Vernon Fanning Centre, 722 16 Ave. NE, Calgary, Alberta T2E 6V7 or AYLA, P.O. Box 331, Dryden, Ontario P8N 2Z1.
