JOHN A. COATES Suddenly on Monday, May 17, 2010, Dad passed away at his home in Winnipeg. Dad lived a long, healthy life. His strength of character, honour and strong independent spirit will leave a lasting legacy to all who knew him. Dad was born June 27, 1917 in Roland, MB. Dad worked hard all his life, first on the farm and working with horses and later as a construction worker in Ontario and Manitoba. He also had a career of 31 years as a City of Winnipeg bus operator. Dad never lost his love of the country life, we loved his great stories of farm life and the past. Dad knew how to overcome adversity with a great sense of humour and positive outlook. His infallible memory kept us up to date and Dad never missed a family event or special dinner. His favourite times were spent visiting with family, he always put family first. Dad took great pride in driving himself to meet with family in and around Winnipeg. Dad leaves to mourn son Murray (Gwen), daughter Terry, son-in-law Brian, eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and six great- great-grandchildren; in-laws Dot, Syd and Ron (Fran), eight nieces and three nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Bea (2008), daughter Trudy (2004), parents and sister Alice. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, please make a donation to the charity of your choice. A private family funeral will be held. John will be laid to rest at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Chapel Lawn 885-9715
