EUGENE GREGORY BIELAK With extreme sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Eugene on May 18, 2010 in Boissevain, MB, aged 55 years. Since 2008 Gene and his fiancé Mary Thorpe, of Waterloo, Ontario, joined together in faith and love. They made the most of their precious time, brought out the very best in each other and treasured the adventure of their relationship. On this day, May 22, 2010, Gene would have married the love of his life, Mary. Eugene was born and raised in Winnipeg and after graduating from Tec-Voc High School he entered the work force and for the past 31 years enjoyed being a Canada Customs Officer. Gene was looking forward to his retirement on June 1. Model airplane building, cross country skiing, target shooting and wine making were some of his favourite hobbies. A Goldeyes opener was never missed! He was a number one volunteer, coaching lacrosse and hockey, and an active member of Knights of Columbus and of his parish church, St. Mary's in Brandon. An avid fisherman, Gene made new friends traveling to spectacular fishing destinations across Canada and the U.S. Gene especially enjoyed fishing with close friends on his trusty boat Mary of the Prairies . Left to cherish his memory: fiancé Mary, parents Nicholas and Julia, siblings, Ken (Dolores, Michael and Mika of Washington, USA, Allison and Mark of Canberra, Australia), Pat, Jerry (Barbara, Nyk and Zac), Teresa, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and Mary's family. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. today, May 22 at Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church with Fr. V. Bashutskyy officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers are Nyk, Zac and Dan Bielak, Trevor Armstrong, Glen Spryszak and Paul Thorpe. In lieu of flowers, donations to the building funds of Blessed Virgin Mary Church or St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Brandon, MB are greatly appreciated. Vichnaya Pamyat May his memory be eternal. Korban Funeral Chapel 956-2193
