Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLUCILLE MARIE STEINHAUER (nee GINGRAS) April 5, 1921 - May 9, 2010 On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9, 2010, Mom passed away peacefully at Seven Oaks General Hospital at the age of 89 years. Lu was a warm, caring mother and wife with a very kind and gentle way with all. She was the youngest of her nine siblings, five sisters (Armande, Gabrielle, Jeanne, Denise, Rolande) and four brothers (Marcel, Guy, Louis, Paul), growing up in St. Vital in a warm loving family. She met Eddie at Grand Beach in the summer of 1943 during the height of the war which was the start of a 48 year lifelong relationship until Dad's passing. The Beach became a lasting summertime vacation spot for Mom and Dad throughout the years where they developed many life-long friendships. Mom also enjoyed escaping the Winnipeg winters each January to spend time in Hawaii in the 1970s with Dad and their many friends from the Winnipeg Police Service. Lucille was predeceased by her husband Eddie in 1991. She is survived by her children, Diane Conlin (Rick) of Vancouver, Linda Moberg of Winnipeg, Ken (Karen) and Tim (Teresa), both of Calgary, and her son-in-law Doug Moberg. As well she leaves behind her grandchildren Sherri, Jason, Christopher, Andrew, Jaclyn, and Erika and her great-granddaughter Kali as well as numerous nieces and nephews. During the past nine weeks in the hospital Momma Bear was supported by her four children, close family and friends (Ted and Irene Sokol, Doug Moberg, Heather Grande, Doris Wilkes). The family would also like to thank the multitude of health professionals at Seven Oaks and the Health Sciences Centre who showed great kindness in their care of our mother. Mom wished to have a private funeral with family and very close friends attending. Mass was celebrated on Friday May 14, 2010 at Holy Cross Church with interment of Mom's ashes at St. Boniface Cemetery on Saturday May 15, 2010. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to a charity of their choice. God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
