JOHN SKRABEK John Skrabek, age 84 years, resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully after a brief illness in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Thursday, May 20, 2010. John was born in the Interlake area of Manitoba and worked in the bush and mines in his early years. He eventually served over 30 years with the Ministry of Correctional Services. John is survived by his loving wife Edna; daughter Linda (Joe) Wood; grandson Sean and Autumn and great-granddaughter Layla all of Thunder Bay. Also survived by sisters Anne Masniuk (Walter) and Elizabeth Skrabyk; nephews Ian (Amber) and Shawn Skrabek of Winnipeg; brothers-in-law Albert and Raymond Lake; sister-in-law Elvi Loski and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son Max, parents Pearl (Ozubko) and Max, sister Stephanie, brother David, father-in-law Victor and mother-in-law Enna, brothers-in-law Toivo, George and Ronald Lake. Funeral services for the late John Skrabek will be held on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma, Thunder Bay, Ontario P7B 5Z7 with Pastor Dan Repo of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Thunder Bay, Ontario. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time. Should friends so desire, donations in memory of John may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
