FLORENCE RENEE FILLION (nee MARION) February 5, 1919 May 24, 2010 Peacefully on May 24, 2010, Florence Fillion, formerly of St. Jean Baptiste, passed away at the age of 91 years at Foyer Valade. Florence is survived and lovingly remembered by her children, Gilles (Audrey), Lionel (Laraine), René (Yvette), all of Kenora, Denis (Ellen) of Kennewick, WA, and Lise (Joyce) of Maple Ridge, BC. Florence is fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Susan Fillion (Cliff), Judy Koreczky (Les), Tannis Love (Benson), Marc Fillion (Carol), Daryl Fillion (Melodie), Lynne Lafrance (Martin), Nicole Kurtz (Tom), Danielle Marston (Clint), Christine Powell (Mike), Denise Fillion; as well as 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Agathe Gratton and brother Armand Marion, and by numerous nieces and nephews. She shall be remembered by her sisters-in-law Denise Marion, Gisèle Marion, and Lucie Marion; and by her brothers-in-law Hervé Barnabé and Gilbert Fontaine. Florence will be remembered for her devotion to her family and commitment to her faith. She was a member of the Catholic Women's League in St. Jean Baptiste. She was known to be an excellent seamstress and was also an avid card player. Florence was predeceased by her husband David on July 16, 1992; sisters Germaine, Hortense, Irène, Yvette, Denise, and Cécile; and by her brothers Lucien, David, Fernand, Georges, and Léo. Members of Florence's family wish to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the nursing staff at Foyer Valade. The funeral mass will be celebrated at the St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church on Thursday May 27 at 2:00 p.m. with Father Alphonse Bongo officiating. Interment of her cremated remains will follow in the Parish Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
