PETER KERNOT SR. (KERNAZ) Peacefully, with his son Douglas by his side on May 23, 2010 Peter Kernot passed away at the Arborg District Health Centre at the age of 95. Peter was born in Winnipeg on December 14, 1914. He lived on the farm in Sylvan, MB until his passing, where he raised his family. Peter enjoyed farming, hunting and going to auctions. He was involved in many community events. Peter still had a sharp mind and even right up until his passing he was sharing his knowledge with the younger generations. Peter was predeceased by his wife Anne (1985), sons Harold (2007) and Donald (1976) and infant daughter Betty-Anne (1952), parents, brothers and sisters. Left to cherish Peter's memory are his children David (Johann), Henry, Johnny (Maureen), Pat (Russell) and Douglas (friend Susan); grandchildren Susan (Jason) Thompson, Debbie (Armond) Stansell, Kevin Deneka, Karen and Warren Kernot; great-grandchildren Samantha, Madeline, Brendan, Ksenia, Torin, Danielle, Jordane and Paige; brothers John, Sam and Sisters Sophie and Katie. Also survived by his beloved dog Skippy. Peter could be seen on a weekly basis having lunch at Chicken Chef and grocery shopping in Arborg. He looked forward to having his entire family for his birthday each year at Zan's. Pallbearers are Allan Lindal, Donald Krawec, Leonard Gulay, Ivan Gulay, Jamie Lindal, Gerald Letexier. Honourary Pallbearers are George Hibbert, Jerry Slavuta, Albert Shewchuk, George Gregorash, Harry Fediuk, Larry Marchuk, Patrick Gulay and Ronnie Finnson. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 28 at 7:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Arborg. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, May 29 at 11:30 a.m. at the Interlake Christian Fellowship Hall (Vidir Hall). Rev. Father Harry Chuckry will officiate. Interment will take place at the Sylvan Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Arborg Hospital for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
