HELEN SOKAL 1917 - 2010 Peacefully in her sleep at Concordia Hospital, Helen Sokal passed away at the age of 92 years. Born in Kreuzberg, Manitoba in 1917, name changed in 1918 to Fraserwood, Manitoba at the end of the First World War. Helen was the last member of a pioneer family that homesteaded in the area. Helen was predeceased by her loving husband, John in 1970; parents, Peter and Malania Stachiw; sisters, Mary Murawka and Lena Kalyniuk; six brothers, Hryno, Mike, John, Jack, Harry and Bill, the entire family is now back together. She is survived by her son Edward and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In compliance with her wishes, flowers are gratefully declined, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
