DR. E. JOANNE BRIGGS, PH.D (nee SHAW) November 3, 1931 - May 30, 2010 Joanne passed away peacefully in Collingwood on May 30, 2010, surrounded by her family. Joanne is predeceased by her beloved husband R. Bruce Briggs (January 9, 2003). She is deeply mourned by her children Andrea (Alan Ryley), Iain, Nancy (John Kitchen), Gillian (Marvin Tansley), Sarah (Michael Clouthier) and Andrew (Lori Gagnon), and by her grandchildren Taryn (Ron Murray), Neil and Simon Ashby, Zoe, Emma, Sophie and Harriet Kitchen, Eleanor, Antoinette, Liliane and Wilfrid Tansley. Joanne was a distinguished teacher, counsellor, academic and athlete, and above all, a loving and inspiring mother and grandmother. She will be sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2010 at All Saints Anglican Church, 32 Elgin St., Collingwood. Reception to follow at Osler Bluff Ski Club at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society or Ryerson University would be appreciated by the family.
