ROELOF REINDER RITSEMA On June 1, 2010 at Park Manor Personal Care Home, Roelof (Rudy) Reinder Ritsema, age 92 passed away. Rudy was predeceased by his beloved wife Kornelia Ritsema. Rudy will also be lovingly remembered by: John (Elaine) of Edmonton, Ron of Winnipeg, Ed (Brenda) of Winnipeg, Ray (Donna) of Winnipeg and Grace (Murray) of Winnipeg, 12 grand-children: Karin, Tim, Noreen, Roger, Jeremy, Robert, Garret, Bryan, Jason, Michelle, Sheridan and Andrew, two great grandchildren: Adhira and Isabella. He was predeceased by brothers Jan, Harm, Tjaard, Anno and sisters Gre' (Kiewiet) and Antina Ritsema. Rudy was born on January 13, 1918 in Hoogesand, The Netherlands. He grew up in the city of Assen and was employed at an early age in his father's bakery. After the Second World War he owned a bakery in partnership with his brother Anno. In 1952 he decided to immigrate to Canada with his wife and three children. After arriving in Winnipeg he continued his career as a baker until he retired. He was one of the founding members of the Transcona Christian Reformed Church. Some of his personal interests were reading, watching sports, and camping with his family. A special thanks is extended to the staff and volunteers at Park Manor Personal Care Home for their dedicated care given to our mother Kornelia and to our father Rudy over the last 11 years. We also give special thanks to the members of the Transcona Christian Reformed Church for their love and support to our parents. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Transcona Christian Reformed Church, 131 Victoria Ave., West with Pastor Reyenga officiating. Viewing will take place one half hour before the service. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kings University College, 9125 50th St., Edmonton, AB T6B 2H3, or the Canadian Institute for the Blind.
