Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREBECCA (BECKY) RUVINSKY (nee ROSENBERG) On May 7, 2010, in Vancouver, BC, Rebecca Ruvinsky, a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 87. Becky will be lovingly remembered as a beautiful, gracious, kind and intelligent woman with a positive outlook, a heartwarming smile and a gentle, loving soul. Becky valued love of family above all else and her family adored her. She is survived and will be greatly missed by Irvin, her loving husband of 63 years; her cherished daughters: Terri (Jack) Mandel, Gayl (Jay) Sarbit, Karen (Harley) Glesby, and Ilene Ruvinsky (Jeffrey Ross); her nine treasured grandchildren: Jodi (Michael) Chall, Steven (Jennifer) Mandel, Dani (Ross) Halperin, Lara (Steven) Caplan, Emma (Matthew) Vader, Sara (Jeremy) Costin, Jessica Glesby, Mira Glesby and Elysia Ruvinsky; and her six great-grandchildren: Morgan and Jordan Chall, Zane, Ava and Talia Halperin, and Quin Caplan; her brothers: Harry (Becky) Rosenberg, Mickey (Pearl) Rosenberg, her brother-in-law Abe Simkin, her sisters-in-law: Annette Rosenberg and Sybil Ruvinsky, and her many nieces and nephews. Born in Rossburn, MB, Becky was raised in Calder, SK and moved to Winnipeg with her family after graduating from high school. There, she met her husband Irvin, whom she loved dearly, and together they raised four daughters. In nurturing her children, Becky stressed the importance of education, music and hard work. She was always very supportive and took great pride in all of their accomplishments. Becky volunteered extensively on Parent Teacher Associations and for the Lehava Chapter of Pioneer Women. After relocating to Montreal for a number of years, Becky and Irv retired to Palm Springs, CA and Vancouver, BC, where they greatly enjoyed golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Becky was predeceased by her parents, Esther and Morris Rosenberg, brothers, Sam (Leah) Rosenberg and Max Rosenberg, her sister Fanny Simkin, sisters-in-law, Mania Aronin, Clara (Harry) Weinshenker and brother-in-law Aaron Ruvinsky. Sincere thanks to Dr. Stanley Sunshine and the nurses and staff of the Louis Brier Home and Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Becky and Irvin Ruvinsky Fund at the Louis Brier Home and Hospital in Vancouver.
