CECIL JOSEPH SPENCE With his loving family by his side, Cecil Joseph Spence, 84, passed away June 3, 2010 at the Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg following a lengthy illness. Born in Gladstone, Manitoba, the son of Jack McAuley and Mary (Spence) McAuley. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Irene (Monkman) Spence; his sons, Eric, Wayne, Randy (Barb), and Jack (Cheryl); his daughters, Debi, Reeva, Louise, and Kelly; his grand-children, Sasha, Cheyenne, Irene, Miranda, Nicklas, Maxwell, Sam, Marques, Zachary, Michael, Shauntal, Brendan, Jack, and Kayla; his eight great-grandchildren, his sisters, Doris, Nora, Freida, and Alma; and many close friends. As a young man Dad enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He enjoyed meeting people and helping others. He devoted his life to his family and volunteered his time to the Manitoba Metis Federation. He found his place in God's house with the Kateri Tekakwitha Church. Special thanks to David Chartrand, David Foster, Marie Malcolm and her son Arthur Malcolm, Jack Mulvany, and Greg Page for their friendship and kindness, to the staff of the palliative care unit at Riverview Health Centre for the excellent care and services provided during our time of need. Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 794 Ellice Avenue, with a viewing one-hour prior and a reception to follow at church and interment to take place after at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Avenue.
